PERSONAL INJURY

Accidents happen.  That's why they are called accidents. However, if you or a loved one is in an accident, you must seek help immediately. Dial 911; take photos of the scene; be sure to check out your injuries, immediately, later in the day or the next day. Within 24 hours you will feel like a Mack truck hit you and threw you into bed.

At the scene of the accident, the first thing that rushes into your mind is how will I get to work, pick up kids and help your mother or father, do grocery shopping and more?????  All this will be solved, with time.  If you do not take care of your injuries, you will be useless to your family.

Please, please be aware of any witnesses at the scene.  If you can, take photos of the accident.

CAR ACCIDENT AND PROPERTY DAMAGE

After that smack to your car, you have an adrenalin rush and feel no pain (unless you are gushing blood and have broken bones or are unconscious); yes, yes, you are worried about your passenger(s). Your first concern, wrong priority) is your car. We just can't help it: it is our human reaction.  Random thoughts come to mind: how do I get to work? pick up kids? do grocery shopping? get this fixed? I need a rental!!! Now!!!!

Call 911 and if you can, stay with the vehicle.  If not, call a family member to stay with the vehicle and call an ambulance for a ride to the hospital.  Please, please take pictures of the accident, your vehicle and the other vehicle.   Repeat the facts to the police at the scene. Then seek medical attention.

Tomorrow, you will feel like you have been hit by a Mack Truck.  Stay awake, with a family friend, the first night at home.  If you have a closed head trauma, if will not show up on the x-rays: but you may have a concussion (symptoms: vertigo--dizzy, vomiting, light-headed nauseous); you must stay awake or you can become unconsious.

The staff are generally quite knowledgeable and patient. We handle the appeals before the Administrative Law Judge. This is your opportunity to present any testimony about your limitations. You even have the right to have witnesses testify.  Most people become disabled as a result of several medical conditions, including: physical and mental issues.

All medical reports are forwarded well in advance of this hearing. I provide the Judge with a copy of my opening statement, before the hearing.  The judge has your work and medical history, arrest status (including drug and alcohol info), etc. in his/her file. YOU are the variable: your education, ability to read and write in English, how you manage your daily activities.
